Case Study: How Lisa Doubled Her Income And Kept Her Integrity
Lisa Higgins is an executive coach. She helps senior leaders better manage themselves, their teams, and their lives. We worked together 1-1 for a year, during which time her income more than doubled*.
What made you want to work with Greg?
When I started working with Greg, I was two years into my coaching business. The minute that I started my coaching practice, even before I had finished my coursework, I had a very lucrative long-term engagement with a corporate team. I had a lot of impact, learned to really be a coach and to deliver to a client.
But what I did not learn in those two years was how to be an entrepreneur. And so, as the contract and the engagement were coming to an end, I knew that was what I needed. I was kind of casting around in a bunch of different directions. I still didn't own that identity of being a business owner, and I needed to make that transition.
What was your biggest hesitation?
My biggest concern about working with Greg was, if I end up taking my business back to, or continuing forward with, the B2B model, will what he has to offer be a fit for that?
I need not have worried.
What results did you achieve together?
One of the smartest things I did was to commit to working with Greg for a full year.
Since working with Greg, I have more than doubled my income and am on track to exceed my highest revenue year. So that's pretty tangible, and pretty remarkable.
A part of that came from the very reason that I was first drawn to his work — because of the marketing archetypes. I'm a Connector. And it was the first time that I had heard somebody talk about the way I like to build business, in a way that made me feel seen and smart and valued.
I leaned into that really hard, and one tiny relationship led to another conversation, led to another conversation, and has led to a super strong referral pipeline. The intangibles: I'm a confident businesswoman.
What did you enjoy most about working with Greg?
What I liked most about working with Greg was how well he really did get to know me and my patterns — my foibles, my strengths. We both speak the language of the Enneagram as well, so he could use that to help call me out and help me grow. It wasn't just about learning the tool or the skill; it was also about me growing as a person and as a business owner.
I also really like his sense of humor, and I like that he really paid attention to some of my requests. I asked to stay connected to my body in our work. I asked for help slowing down, and he was responsive to that.
The biggest thing I took away from working with Greg was how to handle myself in sales situations. I feel in integrity; I feel like myself. One of the things that was hard for me was not coaching during a sales situation. I've learned to stop myself from coaching in those moments and to stay on the sales path — and that is in service to the client or potential client.
Another thing would be data, data, data. I love the way that I'm tracking sales now, and that I can lean on that when I get spun up about anything.
Who should work with Greg?
You should work with Greg if you feel a little shaky in sales conversations.
If you have doubt about your identity or any sort of disconnect with your identity as a business owner and entrepreneur.
If you’re ready to make an investment in yourself and that doesn’t scare you — even though it’s a big investment.
You should work with Greg if you want someone who isn’t necessarily in the weeds with you, but who keeps you grounded in what you came for and makes sure you walk away with that, without getting distracted.
What would have happened if you hadn't worked with Greg?
If I hadn’t hired Greg, I would’ve floundered around quite a bit more. I had already paid small amounts for some trainings here and there — nowhere near this. By far, it was the biggest investment I’ve made in my business. But look where I got in a year. It would’ve taken me a lot longer. I would’ve been more tired, more frustrated, more exhausted.
I’m also sure that my normal swings as an entrepreneur would’ve been more intense. Instead, I had Greg walking me through that for a year. I wouldn’t have made it as quickly, and I probably wouldn’t have been the wife and mom I’ve been in the last year — I’d just be a lot more tired.
