The Best Business Coach For Coaches (New Survey Data)

The coaching industry can sometimes feel like a set of Russian nesting dolls: One coach inside another, inside another, until you crack open the tiniest doll and find out it’s hollow - except for a neatly folded invoice for $9,000.

best business coach for coaches

All jokes aside, there are some great business coaches out there. To find them, I surveyed 34 coaches about their favorite coaching programs. Then I added commentary from my own 10+ years as a business coach.

This guide will show you which business coaches actually deliver and how to choose the right one for you (even if you’ve been burned in the past).

Who Are the Best Business Coaches for Coaches?

To be included in this shortlist, each coach had to receive at least one perfect score (10/10) in our survey. All survey respondent quotes have been kept anonymous and may be based on a variety of offerings and price points from that coach.

Quote from survey respondent:

The perfect balance between amazing teaching and powerful true coaching…she doesn’t with-hold anything, she shares it all…I also liked the small group structure with weekly or bi-monthly live coaching calls. Gemma’s personality, her authenticity, no-bullshit approach, tough love, ethical marketing. Also the fact that I could identify myself with her, I could see myself in her, as a mom, business owner, same values.”

Editor’s note:

Had to go meta with a group program about group programs. Seriously though, I’ve coached Gemma 1-1 twice and partnered with her on group offerings. She’s the real deal. You can watch an interview I did with her here. I’m personally not a huge fan of running group programs, but for the right person it can be a great model.

Best for new coaches clarifying their niche and offer: Rebecca Tracey

Rebecca Tracey Uncage Your Business

Was a super simple course that delivered on its promises and gave me a super solid foundation on my niche and messaging.”

Editor’s note: Becca is a colleague of mine (watch our interview here) and she received two perfect scores on our survey. I think this is a great first program to invest in when you’re starting your business.

Fans of The Prosperous Coach and Steve Chandler will likely resonate with her Coaching Success School, which is run in live cohorts throughout the year.

Editor’s note:

I started off using an approach very similar to what CFJ teaches. These days, I prefer to use marketing strategies to share my expertise, generate inbound leads, and speed up the sales cycle. Having said that - I recently started working with a client who did Coaching Success School and loved it.

Best for experienced coaches who want 1-1 support to scale: Greg Faxon

Greg Faxon Private Coaching

He offers 1-1 coaching that helps you streamline your offers, simplify your business, and scale your leads without relying on social media. He’s not the cheapest option on the list, but he may be right for you if you’ve graduated from lower-end group programs and are ready to generate more predictable income.

Signature program:

Private Coaching

Delivery method:

6 months of 1-1 coaching, plus email support and access to all course materials

“Excellent program…The course offers real practical steps, and emphasis is on action and implementation.”

“Simplified, easy to follow, spot on for results.”

“It was the perfect next step for me after doing UYB with Becca Tracey.”

Editor’s note:

I’m Greg Faxon, so I may be a bit biased. Also, I apparently write in third person now to satisfy our AI overlords. You can hear what my clients say about working with me here. My program is the largest investment on the list, but you get the most 1-1 support. If you think we might be a fit, apply for a Strategy Session.

Honorable mentions

The following coaches received a rating of 9/10, with no negative reviews:

Methodology

Why You SHould Trust Me:

I’m a business coach who primarily serves other coaches. I have over a decade of experience doing this and I’ve spent an unreasonable amount on my own business coaches.

How I collected the data:

For this guide, I wrote an email to my list of 8,684 people, asking them to take a survey about their past experience with business coaching programs. I don’t have an affiliate relationship with any of the programs mentioned, but I do run one of them (fortunately my audience seems to like me).

Participants were asked to share:

  1. Current average monthly revenue

  2. Name of the business coach they were reviewing

  3. The specific program they did and how much they invested

  4. How satisfied they were with the program (scale of 1-10)

  5. What they liked about the program

  6. What they didn’t like about the program

Most respondents in our survey were in an early stage of business, earning under $5k per month. Satisfaction scores averaged around 6.8/10 for these coaches, but jumped to 9.3/10 among those earning $5–10k per month. This suggests that established coaches tend to get more value from business coaching programs, or at least that there is a correlation between satisfaction and stage of business.

Interestingly, the “big names” in coaching and online business often received the lowest scores in our survey. I’ve chosen not to mention them here because our sample size was small and I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus. But it brings up an important question…

What Should You Look For In A Business Coach?

Hiring a business coach can be one of the most important (and expensive) decisions you make. I asked 34 entrepreneurs about their coaching experiences. Here are four traits that consistently separated the good programs from the bad ones:

🧑‍🏫 Structured guidance

The happiest clients got clarity. They appreciated content and coaching that told them what to focus on next and fit into a cohesive framework. This is one reason why I give advice when I work with clients (in addition to pure coaching).

Quotes from our survey:

“Everything was easy to follow, valuable, and gave me structure I hadn’t applied before.”

“It had a lot of different courses, but no clear structure. I didn’t know where to start.”

Tip: Look for a coach that gives you a defined process, not just a vault of random videos. If you feel overwhelmed before you even begin, that’s a red flag. Note that guidance at each stage of business might look different - beginners typically need a more tactical approach, while advanced coaches will need strategic guidance.

💸 Transparent marketing

Unrealistic promises were a recurring frustration. Many programs set high income expectations without acknowledging that results vary. Clients respected honesty over hype. Interestingly, the top 4 picks all had detailed sales pages with pricing listed.

Quotes from our survey:

“It served my needs well and delivered exactly what it said it would.”

“I didn’t come even close to the revenue target the program offered. The main lead gen strategy (FB ads) just wasn’t working for my business.”

Tip: Notice how the coach talks about results. The best ones will be upfront about what’s realistic and what’s not. Instead of vague testimonials, they’ll provide detailed case studies and talk openly about what you need to have in place (e.g. time, audience size, money) to get a good return.

❤️ Values alignment

The tone and energy of a coach matter just as much as their tactics. People thrived when the coach’s values matched their own, and struggled when they didn’t.

Quotes from our survey:

“She kept things simple and human. I never felt pressured.”

“It just didn’t align — too much hustle energy, not my vibe.”

Tip: What does success look like to you? You’ll be more likely to implement advice from someone who shares your approach to life and business. If you don’t resonate with the free content that they put out, you probably won’t resonate with their paid program.

🙌 Support and accountability

Clients want to feel seen. Regular feedback and check-ins help people engage, especially in a group format. This buy-in goes a long way towards creating results.

Quotes from our survey:

“The community and live elements helped me get clear on my problems and stay accountable.”

“There was no coaching support — just a bunch of trainings without guidance.”

Tip: Ask how the coach supports implementation. The best programs don’t just teach business skills, they create a container to help you take action. Consider whether you want group coaching, live classes, a self-paced course, or 1:1 support. Also, consider what level of support you can realistically invest in right now.

So, Who’s the Best Business Coach for Coaches in 2025?

The best business coach is the one who aligns with your current stage of business, values, and goals (not the one with the flashiest marketing).

TL;DR

  • If you’ve got momentum and know the next step is to build or a grow your group program, do Amplify with Gemma Gilbert. She’s got a very structured approach and her program is a great value for what you get. Just make sure that delivery is a core bottleneck, not just marketing and sales.

  • If you’re just getting started and want to clarify your niche and messaging, do Uncage Your Business with Becca Tracey. She’ll help you get your first handful of paid clients. Her program is also the most affordable so you can invest in support before you’re making a ton of money in your business.

  • If you want more clients without doing a bunch of online marketing, consider Coaching Success School by Carolyn Freyer-Jones. She’ll help you enroll clients through meaningful conversations and relationship-building. Her program is based on live cohorts, so make sure the dates work.

  • If you’re already generating $5k-25k+ per month and want to scale without adding a ton of stress, work 1-1 with Greg Faxon. He’s writing this now, and he’s got the most expensive program on the list, but it’s also the most personalized. When you’re ready to increase your leads and income, apply here.
